Meet Kaleigh Moore, APRN, FNP-C
Board Certified (AANP) Family Nurse Practitioner
It is so nice to have you here! My name is Kaleigh Moore. I am 29 years old and a lifelong resident of Scioto County. I graduated from Wheelersburg High School in 2012. I then attended Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, OH for both my Associate Degree in Nursing (2014) and Bachelor Degree in Nursing (2015). I spent my bedside nursing career in a local Intensive Care and Heart Care unit caring for some of the sickest patients from my hometown. After wanting to pursue more in my nursing career, I obtained a Masters of Science in Nursing from Otterbein University in Westerville, OH. I graduated in 2020 as a Family Nurse Practitioner and I am AANP Board Certified. Since then, I have been continuing to care for residents of my hometown by servicing Scioto County School District's employees and their dependents.
Since becomming a Nurse Practitioner, I have been frustrated at the stuggles patients go through to get thorough medical care. Some of these barriers are inconvenient office hours for those who work full time, no health insurance or poor health insurance, the inablility to find a provider accepting new patients, long wait times for appointments or just being able to leave the house to see a healthcare provider. My goal is to bridge these gaps. By bypassing insurance companies, I will be able to keep your costs low. There is no copay, no coinsurnace, no surpise bill, no worrying about being "in network". There is just one low cost visit fee. I offer same day appointments and weekend and evening hours! I am always "on the clock". Home visits are even an option for patients who need in person care.
Another passion of mine is breastfeeding and postpartum care. There is nothing like this in our area. I am here to bridge that gap! I had my first child in 2015. A girl. She was 8lb 4oz. I was 21 years old. I was astonished the lack of knowledge I had about caring for a child. I took maternity in nursing school right? What could I possibly have not been taught in that class about babies? I remember the drive home from the hospital thinking, "What am I going to do with this new life I am responsible for when I get home?" I had maybe 2 hours total time spent with a lactation consultant and nursery nurses at the hospital and did not have a follow up scheduled for SIX more weeks. I was unsuccessful in breastfeeding with this pregnancy becuase I was "winging it." I had never been correctly measured for a pump flange. I had no idea what to do to decrease or increase my milk supply. Pumping? What's that needed for? I had minimal support from my family. (My mother nor grandmother breastfed any of their children.) I had no one to help. I felt clueless, alone and like I was a failure. I knew the benefits of breastfeeding and wanted to so bad. But honestly, breastfeeding is hard!
My second pregnancy was different. This time, I was having TWO BABIES!! You could imagine the shock. This time, I knew I was clueless. I spent my whole pregnancy researching topics such as breast feeding, sleep training, routines, the best and safest baby items, etc. I knew I had to be prepared or I would "drown". I joined IABLE and began taking continuing education courses about breastfeeding and postpartum. I was again shocked at what I was not taught in my medical schooling about caring for women in their postpartum phase. This research was conducted independently over many of hours. When the twins arrived, I was able to put this research into practice and see for myself what worked, was practical and most importantly affordable.
My goal is to take all of the knowledge and experience I learned and pass this along to you to make your postpartum and infant journey easier and less stressful. This should be a time when you can enjoy your baby! You should not be forced to feel clueless, in the dark or that you have to reach out for recommendations that are not evidence based.
